At the Heart of the Mission Since 1919

2019 marks the National Defense Industrial Association's 100th anniversary.

Over the last century, NDIA has earned its reputation as America's leading defense industry association promoting national security. With a dedication to good public policy and the advancement of education and technology, NDIA convenes industry, government, and academia on behalf of both the warfighter and others who contribute to the defense and security of our nation.

Since its creation as the result of a merger between the American Defense Preparedness Association (ADPA)—previously known as the 1919 Army Ordnance Association (AOA)—and the 1944 National Security Industrial Association (NSIA), NDIA has provided a platform through which top leaders and decision-makers in industry, government, and academic can collaborate and offer solutions to advance the national security and defense needs of the nation.

Based in Arlington, Virginia, under the leadership of President and CEO General Hawk Carlisle (USAF Ret) and Executive Vice President Major General James Boozer (USA Ret), NDIA continues its ongoing mission of advocating for and advancing the national imperative of having a responsive defense industrial base.
